2012 City Boys: A Team to Lookout for this Season

November 10, 2022

The Team

Our 2012 Boys City have been nominated as the team of the week by our City Regional Manager, Jake Beverlin.  They were simply unplayable this weekend as they stormed to a 2-0 victory.  The score does not tell the whole story as they dominated possession and had lots of scoring opportunities.

Results have not been the focus for this young team but rather building team chemistry and team cohesion throughout the season.  It is evident that this strategy imposed by coach Yuran has been working as they have massively improved their soccer abilities over the course of the season.  We are looking forward to seeing how this team develops over the course of the next years.

Their play style is one that aligns with the New England Surf philosophy.  Be on the front foot with high pressure and then look to play and advance the ball up the field with short, quick passes.  Hoping to eventually get the ball wide to their wingers in order to isolate defenders in 1v1 and 2v1 situations.  It certainly worked this past weekend!

The Coach

Yuran Teixeira: Yuran is a recent graduate of UMass Boston Men’s Soccer program where he showcased his incredible playing abilities over a stellar 4 year career, earning multiple individual accolades.  He has been with Surf for 2 years now and he is looking to replicate his playing success in his coaching career.  We are lucky to have such a person and former player with us at New England Surf

Upcoming Fall

Our 2012 City Boys side’s goals for the fall, as said by their coach Yuran, “Get the boys to have fun playing soccer while learning the game the Surf way.  Always with a side focus on building team chemistry to last for years”
