New England Surf’s State Girls Program offers a high-performance pathway for elite players through three competitive tiers:

  • Navy Teams – ECNL Regional League (ECNL-RL)

  • Sky Teams – National Academy League (NAL)

  • Royal Teams – New England Club Soccer League (NECSL)

Our player-first approach ensures each athlete receives expert coaching, individualized feedback, and a professional training environment focused on long-term development and success.

New England Surf State Girls is now offering rolling tryouts for all age groups. Players can register using the links below and will be individually invited to attend a training session for evaluation by our coaching staff.

Team placement will be based on roster availability and player evaluation.

Director of Coaching

Darren Gallagher is a former Head Coach of the Holy Cross Crusaders women's soccer program (D1) and brings over 20 years of experience in youth and collegiate soccer.

Since launching our girls program, Darren has guided it to multiple DPL National Championships, MA State Championships, and ECNL RL Finals, establishing a competitive standard and a culture of excellence. Under his leadership, more than 50 alumni have gone on to continue their careers at the collegiate level in the past five years.

Darren’s leadership, high standards, and unwavering commitment to player development have been foundational to the program’s sustained growth and long-term success.

I have always been passionate about creating an fun and challenging soccer environment where players can develop and reach their potential on and off the field.

For players born between 2012 and 2015:

Our State Teams are designed for athletes who are performing at a higher level and are ready for a more intensive training and competition schedule.

Our Regional Teams offer a competitive environment for players who want to continue developing their skills with a more flexible time commitment.

Please register for the tryout that best fits your goals—either the State or Regional program.

After the session, our staff will communicate which environment best fits your child’s long-term developmental needs. Our goal is to ensure the best possible team placement for your child.

2026–2027 Age Group Updates

Important Changes to Birth Year Cutoff 

 

U.S. Soccer and most competitive leagues will be shifting to a new age group formation beginning in the Fall 2026 season.

The 2025–2026 season will remain under the current birth year rules, giving families and players a full year to prepare for the transition.

Beginning in Fall 2026, the new August 1 – July 31 age cutoff will apply.
