A Clear Pathway For Players Who Want to Grow

New England Surf provides a structured, transparent development pathway for players at every stage — from first touch through advanced competitive levels. Our tryout process is designed to create alignment, clarity, and long-term opportunity for players and families.
Rather than a single entry point, Surf offers multiple pathways within one unified club, allowing players to grow without needing to re-tryout elsewhere.
Tryouts are not a one-day decision. They are the beginning of a shared journey built on alignment, growth, and long-term development.
Our process is designed to find the right fit — for the player, the family, and the pathway — without pressure or confusion.

State ID Sessions:
March 23 & 25, 2026

Centralized evaluation for State-level teams (U11–U17)

Please note: This ID Session is intended primarily for external players who are not currently part of the Surf program.

State ID Sessions are the primary evaluation opportunity for players seeking placement on New England Surf’s State-level teams. These sessions provide a structured, professional environment where players are evaluated beyond a single moment—looking at technical ability, decision-making, coachability, effort, and long-term potential.

Evaluations are intentional and transparent, giving families clarity around how Surf assesses players and makes placement decisions. Players who attend may be considered for placement in the current or upcoming season, or encouraged to continue developing within the Surf environment.

Regional Open House Week:
April 6 - 9, 2026

A welcoming first step into New England Surf

Regional Open House Sessions are designed for younger players and families looking to experience the New England Surf environment in a supportive, low-pressure setting. These sessions introduce Surf’s training philosophy, coaching standards, and community while giving players the chance to learn, grow, and build confidence alongside peers at a similar stage of development.

Training takes place closer to home, with an emphasis on learning, enjoyment, and long-term development, rather than selection pressure. Families also gain clarity on how Surf operates and how players can progress through the Surf pathway over time.

2026–2027 Age Group Updates

Important Changes to Birth Year Cutoff

U.S. Soccer and most competitive leagues will be shifting to a new age group formation beginning in the Fall 2026 season.

The 2025–2026 season will remain under the current birth year rules, giving families and players a full year to prepare for the transition.

Beginning in Fall 2026, the new August 1 – July 31 age cutoff will apply.
