New England Surf Celebrates 5 Years

The New England Surf Soccer Club proudly celebrates its 5th anniversary, marking five years of elite player development, competitive excellence, and an unwavering commitment to fostering the next generation of soccer talent. Since its inception in 2020, NE Surf has grown from a promising new club into a regional powerhouse, producing state champions, national contenders, and collegiate standouts while expanding its reach and impact.

A Journey of Growth and Excellence: From 2020 to Now

From its beginnings with just three regions—City, Metro West, and Metro Boston— and state programs, NE Surf has rapidly evolved, creating an environment where players thrive both on and off the field. Over the past five years, the club has established itself as a leader in New England youth soccer, celebrating achievements that highlight its commitment to excellence and player development.

2020: The Beginning of a Legacy

NE Surf was officially formed in March 2020, bringing together a dedicated team of professionals to lay the foundation for what would become a premier youth soccer organization.  Since 2020, key staff members who have been with us from the start and are still part of the team today include Tommaso Trevisan, Peter Bradley, Andy Prosser, Tim Mason, Darren Gallagher, Luke Rothero, Enrico Ciuffetelli, Erald Hysi, Estive Sosa, and Billy Beauzile.

In its inaugural fall season, NE Surf launched with 600 players. The club quickly set high standards in player development and competition, establishing a culture of excellence.

2021: Making a Statement on the Field

NE Surf’s competitive impact was felt early, as teams began securing major victories:

  • State Cup Champions: Boys 2005, Boys 2004, Girls 2008
  • NECSL Champions: Metro Boston Girls 2010, State Navy Girls 2009, State Sky Girls 2006
  • Entered the Development Player League (DPL), expanding high-level opportunities for female athletes.
  • 3 Tournament series was launched (Copa Surf, Surf Challenge and Showcase, and Labor Day Classic)

2022: Rapid Expansion and National Recognition

With growing momentum, NE Surf surpassed the 1,000-player milestone, further establishing itself as a force in regional and national competition:

  • DPL G2007 National Champions; G2006 National Finalists
  • 8 Massachusetts State Cup Titles
  • Expansion of regional programming with the addition of Metro South and Metro regions
  • Goalkeeper, Reinner Fidelis, signs with NE Revolution

2023: National Titles and International Success

NE Surf continued its upward trajectory, achieving new milestones:

  • First-ever international championship at Surf Cup International Rome: Boys 2005 and Girls 2009 claimed titles
  • National Champions: Girls 2008, Girls 2010
  • National Finalists: Girls 2007
  • Addition of U23 Program, providing a bridge for players transitioning to higher levels
  • 7 Massachusetts State Cup Titles
  • Expansion into Charlestown, increasing access to high-level soccer across the region
  • Goalkeeper program hits 100+ participants

2024: Elevating Standards and Reaching New Heights

NE Surf entered a new phase of competitive and structural growth:

  • 4 Massachusetts State Cup Titles
  • DPL Nationals: 2 teams finished as runners-up
  • U23 Men’s NECSL Champions
  • Expansion into South Shore, broadening the club’s regional footprint
  • Club membership exceeded 1,500 players
  • Over 100 players committed to college programs, reinforcing NE Surf’s success in player placement
  • Entered the ECNL-RL for both boys and girls State Navy teams, enhancing the club’s competitive platform
  • Maisa Vial represented Tunisia at the U17 National Team level, a testament to NE Surf’s ability to develop top international talent
  • Two NE Surf alumni, Andrew Miller and Pieter Bultman, won the NCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship with the University of Vermont
  • We reached 1,100+ teams across all three events

2025: A Strong Future Ahead

With five years of continuous growth and success, NE Surf enters 2025 with ambitious goals:-

  • 19 Full-Time Staff and 50 Part-Time Coaches
  • State Boys Program gets accepted into MLS NEXT New Competition Tier
  • Every coach to have at least a USSF D License by the end of 2025, reinforcing NE Surf’s commitment to coaching excellence and player development

Educating The Surf Community

NE Surf has built a reputation for developing top-level players and fostering a culture of continuous learning for both athletes and coaches. From state championships to national titles and international recognition, the club provides a platform for players to reach their full potential. Beyond competition, NE Surf is committed to education—offering resources, mentorship, and coaching development to ensure long-term success in the game. With a focus on player growth, elite competition, and pathways to college and beyond, NE Surf continues to shape the future of soccer in New England.

A Growing Soccer Family

Starting with just 600 players in 2020, NE Surf now supports over 1,500 athletes across multiple regions. Players from diverse backgrounds have come together under one philosophy: to train, compete, and grow at the highest level possible. With expansion into new areas and continued investment in player development, NE Surf remains a premier destination for aspiring soccer stars.
