New England Surf made waves at the NEFC Thanksgiving Showcase, with three of our State Girls teams capturing division titles. Their skill, teamwork, and determination were on full display throughout the weekend, earning impressive results against strong competition.

G2010 Navy Triumphs in U15 Girls Showcase Bronze Division

The G2010 Navy team kicked off their showcase journey with a commanding 4-0 victory over SUSA FC on Black Friday, setting the tone for a dominant weekend. They followed up with another stellar performance, earning a 5-0 win against Seacoast United and heading into their final match with six points. In their last game against Pickering Football Club, the team battled to a 2-2 draw, securing their place at the top of the bracket.

The G2010 Navy wrapped up the weekend as champions of the U15 Girls Showcase Bronze Division, boasting an incredible 11 goals scored over three matches.

Reflecting on the weekend, Coach Jonny Bonner shared: “The Thanksgiving Showcase provided a great opportunity to play against some good competition. The girls won two and tied one game to finish top of their bracket. In a short period of time, the girls have bonded really well on and off the field, and I’m excited to coach the girls this season!”

G2009 Navy Claims U16 Girls Showcase Bronze Division Title

The G2009 Navy team also delivered an outstanding performance, clinching the U16 Girls Showcase Bronze Division title. They began with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Smithtown Kickers SC before securing a crucial 1-0 victory over FC Stars ECNL on Saturday. With the championship on the line, the team rose to the occasion, defeating tournament hosts NEFC Central DPL 3-1.

Defensive excellence was a hallmark of the G2009 Navy’s campaign, with standout performances across the field. Midfielder Antonia contributed two stunning goals from outside the box, highlighting the team’s attacking prowess.

Coach Alex MacPherson praised the team’s efforts: “This Thanksgiving Showcase laid a great foundation for our season. As a group, we made progress in implementing our style of play while obtaining results, which is the sign of a good team. We’re excited for the challenges ahead, especially after a successful start!”

G2009 Royal Reigns in U16 Girls Showcase Blue Division

The G2009 Royal team showcased their resilience and firepower throughout the showcase, emerging as champions of the U16 Girls Showcase Blue Division. They began their campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Empire State Alleycats, followed by an extraordinary 7-1 victory over Seacoast of Bedford in a stunning display of offensive strength.

The team capped off their weekend with a 2-1 victory against IFA West, demonstrating grit and determination to finish at the top of their division.

Coach Jose Meza shared his thoughts on the team’s performance: “G09 Royal had a great weekend at the Thanksgiving tournament. The girls played and showed a very well-executed collective game, setting them up to win their bracket. This is a great way to start the club season, and we are looking forward to our next challenge.”
