New England Surf’s State Boys Program is a part of a new era of elite development with entry into the MLS NEXT Academy Division. The program features three competitive levels to ensure the right pathway for every top-level player:

Navy Teams – MLS NEXT Academy Division
Sky Teams – NAL
Royal Teams – USYS National League / New England Club Soccer League (NECSL)

Director of Coaching

Kyle Bak is in his second full season as Director of Coaching for the State Boys program at New England Surf, having joined the club in 2022. He brings over 12 years of Division I collegiate & youth coaching experience, where he served as an Assistant Coach, Associate Head Coach, and Head Coach. Kyle recently completed his USSF B License and plans to pursue his USSF A License and Club Technical Leader (CTL) License in the coming years as part of his continued professional development. Since joining New England Surf, Kyle has played an integral role in the club’s growth and advancement, helping guide Navy and Sky teams into higher-level national league platforms including USYS National League, ECNL Regional League, NAL, and MLS NEXT. He currently serves as the Head Coach of the club’s U19 MLS NEXT Academy Division team.

My goal as a coach is to use the platform of soccer to help lead and educate my players to reach and hopefully exceed their potential on the field. Soccer can teach us far more important skills than passing & receiving or scoring goals.

For players born between 2012 and 2015:

Our State Teams are designed for athletes who are performing at a higher level and are ready for a more intensive training and competition schedule.

Our Regional Teams offer a competitive environment for players who want to continue developing their skills with a more flexible time commitment.

Please register for the tryout that best fits your goals—either the State or Regional program.

After the session, our staff will communicate which environment best fits your child’s long-term developmental needs. Our goal is to ensure the best possible team placement for your child.
