Why We're Different

Most U.S. youth programs overlook strength and conditioning — but at elite European academies, it’s a core part of player development.

This program was designed by Brian Gheorghiu, Surf’s Sports Performance Lead. Brian earned his Master’s of Science at the University of Bath, studying under professionals connected to the UK Olympic Training Center and Southampton FC satellite site. He has also coached and interned at top NCAA programs, including Boston University and Northeastern.

This program isn’t a generic set of exercises — it reflects the same developmental philosophy used at top academies worldwide.

Built with intention. Backed by science. Tailored to youth soccer.

What to Expect

Players will train with a focus on:

  • Speed & Agility

Sessions will include drills that improve quickness, reaction time, and change of direction. Players will work on acceleration and deceleration patterns to become more explosive and efficient on the field.

  • Conditioning

Through structured, soccer-specific conditioning, players will build the endurance needed to perform at a high level throughout an entire match. Sessions are designed to challenge cardiovascular fitness in a safe and progressive way.

  • Injury Prevention

Emphasis will be placed on strengthening key muscle groups, improving movement mechanics, and reducing overuse risks. Exercises will focus on building durability and resilience to keep players healthy throughout the season.

  • Neuromuscular Development

Players will enhance their coordination, balance, and body control through targeted exercises. This type of training sharpens the connection between the brain and muscles, helping athletes move more efficiently and respond more effectively during play.

  • Mobility & Movement Quality

Proper movement is the foundation of athletic performance. These clinics will incorporate mobility work to improve joint range of motion and flexibility, ensuring players can move fluidly and avoid unnecessary strain.
