Resilience, Growth, and Purpose: Antonia Kutsoati’s Journey to the Next Level
There are moments in every athlete’s journey that define who they become – not just as players, but as people.
For Antonia, those moments have been shaped by resilience, self-belief, and a deep commitment to growth.
Now, those efforts are being recognized in a major way: a Division I commitment to Howard University and a call-up to the Ghana U17 Women’s National Team pool ahead of upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
But behind these achievements is a journey built over years – one that hasn’t followed a straight line.
Where It All Began
Antonia’s story with the game started at a young age, inspired by the environment around her and a defining global moment.
“After the 2017 Women’s World Cup, I became really inspired and excited about soccer.”
That inspiration led her to take her first steps into organized football – and soon after, into a club environment where her development would truly begin.
Embracing the Process
Antonia joined New England Surf early on, at a time when both she and the club were growing.
Her journey within the club reflects something many young players experience – change, uncertainty, and the need to adapt.
“I started as a goalkeeper and played that position for two years… eventually, I made the decision to transition out of goal.”
That decision came with challenges. It meant stepping out of her comfort zone, moving teams, and rebuilding her confidence.
“It has been a challenging but rewarding journey… I worked my way back.”
With guidance from multiple coaches and exposure to different environments within the club, Antonia developed not only her game, but her mentality.
“Each coach and teammate has taught me something that has helped me grow not only as a player, but also as a person.”
A Defining Turning Point
One of the most important chapters in Antonia’s development came during the 2025 season – a period where things didn’t come easily.
“It was a difficult time for me both mentally and physically… I started to lose confidence.”
Instead of letting that moment define her negatively, she used it as a turning point.
“I committed to getting stronger… pushing myself to stay disciplined and consistent every day.”
What followed was not just physical improvement, but a shift in perspective.
“Instead of comparing myself to others, I now focus on becoming the best player I can be.”
The Importance of Environment
Throughout her journey, the people around her played a key role.
From early coaching influences to her current team environment, Antonia found both support and challenge in the right moments.
“I’ve never been part of a group with such a strong team culture… we push one another to be the best players and people we can be.”

Coaches across different stages of her pathway helped shape her understanding of the game and her approach to improvement – from learning discipline early on, to being guided by an experienced college coach in her current phase.
This combination of environment, structure, and consistent support allowed her to navigate both setbacks and progress.
Finding the Right Fit
The college recruiting process tested Antonia’s patience.
“It had its ups and downs… it started off pretty slowly.”
“I immediately fell in love with the school… it felt like the right place for me.”
“I’ve always wanted to be in an environment with more people who look like me… a place where I could truly feel a sense of belonging.”
At the same time, the opportunity to compete at the Division I level ensures she will continue to be challenged and developed in the years ahead.
Representing Her Roots
Alongside her college commitment, Antonia’s call-up to the Ghana U17 Women’s National Team pool marks another powerful milestone.

“It was something I had always dreamed about… it meant a lot to represent my heritage at such a high level.”
“I had to adjust quickly to a new system and style.”
“No matter where you play, success comes from working hard, staying disciplined, and building strong chemistry with your teammates.”
Looking Ahead
As she prepares for the next chapter, Antonia remains focused on the same principles that carried her this far.
“My biggest goal is to become the best player I can possibly be.”
“I want to lead by example… and be the best teammate I can be, because I know that without my teammates, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
A Pathway Built for Moments Like This

Antonia’s journey is a powerful example of what long-term development truly looks like – not a straight line, but a process built on patience, resilience, and the right environment.
At New England Surf, players are supported through every phase of that journey – from early development, to navigating challenges, to preparing for college and beyond. With experienced coaching, a strong team culture, and a structure designed to develop the whole player, athletes are given the tools to reach their highest potential.
Antonia’s story reflects that pathway in action.
From stepping onto the field for the first time, to earning a Division I opportunity and stepping onto the international stage – her journey shows what’s possible when talent meets commitment, and when players are guided with purpose.
